Christian Lee Hutson recommends Adrienne Rich's essay on lying

Christian Lee Hutson is a New York City-based singer-songwriter who got his start as a member of The Driftwood Singers. He began releasing solo music in the early 2010s. has since become a frequent collaborator with Phoebe Bridgers, and has also worked with several fellow Perfectly Imperfect alumni, including Samia, Katy Kirby, Maya Hawke, and Conor Oberst. To date, he’s released three solid albums of finger-picked indie folk, the most recent being Paradise Pop. 10, which dropped last September to high praise (you can check it out here). Christian also has some festival dates lined up this summer. Lucky for us, he’s here to share what he’s been into.

talk to yourself about your feelings as if you were someone else observing your thoughts. very good way to organize and regulate your emotions/learn how to love yourself. very important to do before you can love anyone else.

love this Adrienne Rich essay on lying. I think this can apply to everyone, not just women. in it she writes that telling the truth creates possibilities between us. "It is important to do this because it breaks down human self delusion and isolation"
