This man was a fascist, but he was also gay, and you know what, sometimes gay people can be bad. And sometimes bad people can write really well, and one of the greatest writers of the 20th century was Yukio Mishima. If you want to see into worlds beyond your own, you should check him out. He created an entirely new language for Japanese literature. I discovered him when I took a Japanese literature and translation class in undergrad and he’s been my background on my phone ever since. He’s great. I think that if you want to start right, start with ā€œConfessions of a Maskā€ and go on to ā€œForbidden Colors.ā€ Every book is a banger. Also watch Paul Scrader’s movie, ā€œMishima: A Life in Four Chaptersā€Ā It’s a phenomenal phenomena phenomenal movie.

This is a Rec on how to stay sane, not how to get out, unfortunately. I have been (mostly) unemployed for like almost a year aside from short stints or gigs. it’s been awful awful awful BUT AMC A List became my light at the end of the tunnel, truly. $25 a month for 3 ā€œfreeā€ movies every week. I use it as a treat after trudging through applications or to have something to look forward to. And, yes, you can watch as many free movies as you want on your laptop in your room but having a place to go or a plan at the end of a grueling day is great.

New York's Hottest Club is....Film Noir Cinema's Thursday Night Film Club! On April 18th at 9PM I'll be showing a personal favorite film of mine at the greatest little theatre in the city, so come on down to 122 Meserole Avenue in Greenpoint. Tickets are $10 cash, $5 beers and $3 sodas, plus a myriad of pierogi joints nearby for you to grab a bite at beforehand.

Bowling is a sick thing to do. In a city like New York, that was once the city that never sleeps, it feels like we're in a permanent coma post Covid and there’s no place to hang out late at night. But up the street from my house there’s a place that’s open ā€˜til 4 am every night. And it’s called The Gutter. It’s a sick bowling alley and it’s become my go-to hang with my friends. You can drink, you can play a game, you can socialize, you can flirt, and the lighting is great. In most other places it’s too dark to see if the people you’ve come with are hot that night, but at this bowling alley, you can always see if someone’s hot or not. If you want to go bowling with me, hit me up, I take a lot of people, and it’s always a good time.

I love food. I love love. And I love movies that are about food making people fall in love. This movie was right up my alley; it really fucked me up. Juliette Binoche is one of the hottest women in the world. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it, cry, fall in love, tell all your friends. I think it’s one of the most underrated movies of the year.

Yes…it is boring often, but also, so are a lot of other things people do. Whenever my friends would ask me to go see a concert that they were putting on with their band or to see them do stand-up comedy— did I think of all the bad stand-up comedy I’ve been to before? Yes. But did I still go hoping that theirs might be good? Yes. That is because I don’t hate life. Yet often, when I tell people ā€œcome see a play with meā€ they’re like ā€œUGH I hate plays.ā€ Theatre is really cool; there is often really really shit theatre and that’s ok. A lot of things are really shitty. Think about this: where else can you go and hang out with 400 people, minimum, and be able to sit and *something* over people possibly failing in front of you. It’s really fun! Go see threatre.
