Sure, I definitely could buy that 9800X3D I want, and I could really use more money. I’m hyped about the Christian Dior chain I bought for way below MSRP.
None of those things will truly make me happy though.
Being content with what you have will. You don’t always have to have it all. That’s not to say you have to stop striving for more. To me, being content means recognizing the value in every relationship and experience you have, practicing gratitude, and simultaneously striving to be the best version of yourself you can be. When I was much younger, I thought clothes made the man, women only liked money, and that you always had to keep up with the Joneses. This materialist mentality robbed me of joy and happiness. Older wiser me knows that none of those things are true, that happiness comes from gratitude and comparison is the thief of joy.
