Arthur Russell was an American cellist, musician, music producer, and former musical director of the New York avant-garde venue The Kitchen. Russell died of aids in 1992 relatively unknown. About 10 years after his death, friends of his compiled his music into compilation albums, where they have since been heard and garnered a wider appreciation. I love his songs for their softness. Some of his work is very reminiscent of Nick Drake. Iโve linked my favorite song of his, โNot Checking Upโ above.
