A fun observation that Ive noticed in college is that some way or another people act like their major. I don’t mean in a very stereotypical way but in a more nuanced way where the way they approach a class is totally differs. I have to share a French Foundation course with a lot of people from media departments and I come from the department of international studies, political science and history. The way we analyse something is so empirical and research based to a level where it might sound boring to most people (thus us history and political science students getting the boring branding) while most of the media students have a more opinionated way of approaching things. same goes for science based and business/commerce students. Even though most of us in my class don’t agree with each other politically we always come to the answer through a similar thought process. The most funniest thing is that people from my department are always too eager to answer questions, most of us raise our hands before we even have our answers formulated while people from other departments ive observed usually spent a second to ponder over it, which always seemed ironic to me. If anyone’s in college the best thing to do if you’re bored is to people watch, you find the most fascinating things.
