It's a great way to feel more connected to nature no matter where you live. The Chirp! app has a quiz function that makes learning birdsongs fun and easy. If you start now you'll be a pro in time for spring migration!

app made by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. great way to identify birds by taking a photo, sound recording, or answering a few basic questions about what bird you see. Here are some I’ve identified! The great horned owl was a from sound recording in the middle of the night! v thrilling for me. Gotta catch em all!!!! 🤪

I have become a bird nerd and it’s taking over my life in a very positive way. To start: -Download the Merlin Bird ID app. You can use pictures or record audio to ID birds -(optional) Tell your mom you’re getting into birding because she might send you a bird book and a pair of old binoculars if you’re lucky -Get outside! I started by sitting on my porch with the app recording and learning about my neighborhood birds. Go to parks, hike, walk to work and look to the trees -Enjoy!:-)

I’ve been obsessed with this app that identifies birdies based on their calls and songs! It’s incredible how many different birds are in my yard at different times of day. I’m so excited to use it while traveling too🙌

This NYT piece from last year explains why it’s actually a Good and Normal thing to do. I used to have like six in the bed at once but recently culled my crew to two practical ones: this sleeping Charmander plushie, which I hug while I’m in the fetal position, and an Ugly Doll I put between my knees because it’s nice and flat. They're so comfy and I fall asleep in 30 seconds like this (also they’re cute and I love them)

Consciousness can be agonizing but it's also a miracle. Sometimes the pressure to make the most of it feels debilitating. There's so much I want to do, and I have to remind that the stuff that really gives life meaning isn't hard to access. I think making a true effort to know yourself, make connections with the people around you, and observe and engage with the world are more than enough reasons to justify your existence.
