avoid the crowds by getting up early to watch the sunrise at the Trevi Fountain. we grabbed a capuccino and pastry in the courtyard and spent an hour waking up to the most beautiful view. then we booked it to the Colisseum and explored it leisurely with only a handful of other people around. by the time we got out the lines were LONG and we still had a full day ahead of us! also check out the Capuchin Crypt (if you don't mind looking at human bones). fascinating lore

i did two walking tours when i was in rome and the second was probably the highlight of my trip. you get so much information, the opportunity to stretch your legs a bit and meet other tourists to befriend if you want. i saw where mussolini announced world war two participation to italians, the homes of witches and artists and got three movie recs and lists of the best places to grab food and see the sunset. irl pi.fyi lowkey.

The vintage shopping is pretty great in both cities. I remember Epoca in Florence and Twice in Trastevere. Walking around Trastevere is cool as hell. Taverna Trilussa had delicious pasta and Roscioli was great for a mid-day bite Drink lots of coffee and wine! Even the gas stations have good espresso. If you have time, stop through Siena. Thought it was such a mysterious city with spooky nooks and winding maze-like streets. Half fort, half village.

after five years of grad school and subsequent job search, i can finally say i have successfully changed careers ๐Ÿ˜ญ i start my new job counseling kids at a community mental health clinic on Monday. yesterday was my last shift at the grocery store that was an escape from my horrible corporate job and a sustaining force throughout grad school. itโ€™s so bittersweet to leave the sweetest coworkers iโ€™ve ever had and the most fun iโ€™ve had at work. itโ€™s immeasurably healing to quit a job for only good reasons. my coworkers got me a cake, everyone wrote notes in a card, and the goodbyes throughout the day made my heart swell. i even got to tell the good news to my favorite instacarter ๐Ÿฅบ after i clocked out for the last time, my friends joined me for gelato at the cafe and we strolled the store for a final time, this time as simply a loyal customer.
