there was a program where towns would get grants and money if they built something that would contribute to the culture or something so this town in Alberta built a museum of taxidermy gophers (gophers are not like a province animal as far as I can tell) and they had beef with PETA and the dioramas don’t rly make any sense like idk This one, the peta tearing apart a gopher one and the like stick em up one are good personal favorites

The taxidermy, scenery and landscape paintings are incredible. As is the rest of the museum, which until this last Sunday I hadn’t been to since I was a kid. The place makes you feel very small and temporary, in a good way I think. I saw wolves hunting, moose fighting, a rabbit hiding, the bison walking on the Great Planes, became sad they were gone, and thought about Holden Caulfield.

This library had a mini Egyptian museum exhibit?!! The ethics of that are questionable but also why is there a random sarcophagus in a small town in the middle of nowhere. The sitting rooms were cute too and so many taxidermic animals.
