Seriously. Go to a park/lake/whatever nature you got and just sit on a bench. Such a peaxefuo way to connect with your surroundings and get a lil mindfulness in. You can download the Merlin app to pick up on sounds and play I Spy for the utterer, or just rawdog it like I do and if you see someone great, if not there are always more birbs in the sky.

because this is the summer of hobbymaxxing i went birding for the first time today and it was so relaxing! a great way to get out and truly appreciate nature in all of its glory. i used to be afraid of birds but i found myself awestruck by the natural beauty and grace they exude. if youre anything like me and have been consciously trying to reduce screen time/phone use, birding is a great activity because (1) youre outside and (2) youre actively searching for birds with your group! check your local parks and rec for opportunities!!

I have become a bird nerd and it’s taking over my life in a very positive way. To start: -Download the Merlin Bird ID app. You can use pictures or record audio to ID birds -(optional) Tell your mom you’re getting into birding because she might send you a bird book and a pair of old binoculars if you’re lucky -Get outside! I started by sitting on my porch with the app recording and learning about my neighborhood birds. Go to parks, hike, walk to work and look to the trees -Enjoy!:-)

If you need an excuse to go walk in the woods for hours on end, go to a marsh or forest and just watch birds. Feel the calm of the outdoors with the only sounds being your footsteps and the chirping of birds. Bring binoculars, or a camera, or nothing!! Nobody needs to even know what you're doing, you may even see a creature you've never seen before.
