Look at Ernest Hemingway in this iconic Cuban shirt. Imagine how good you'll look in one. Be sure to get linen or cotton (or a blend of those two). Avoid polyester in the summertime like the plague, because there's a nonzero chance that sweating in polyester causes skin cancer.

as a fat androgyn-ish girlie in texas, i’m leaning into loose, breathable fabrics this summer. i have a pair of green linen blend pants from Old Navy that i’ve already been wearing a ton this spring. i think big guys look sooo good in casual button downs, especially if they have a nice/fun pattern and colors that look good on them (go shopping with friends if you’re not sure what suits you). something about a collar feels so much more intentional and put together while still being comfy if you like the cut and feel of the fabric. best of luck, i believe you can find a style that looks and feels great on you!

Every summer I choose a piece of clothing to wear until it falls apart. Last summer I found old dishwasher uniform pants and wore them essentially every day. This summer I've decided on the blue striped button down. Unbutton a few buttons and you give off the perfect look of "I left from the office so I’m late to this pool party” vibe. Right now my favorite is from my friends at another aspect, but I also purchased too many on eBay.

Do you want to wear a t-shirt but make it look like you put in more effort? Do you not want to wear a polo and look like you're about to golf 18 holes or sell some cell phones? Wear a henley because buttons make everything a smidge more serious

With the recent passing of David Lynch, I felt it necessary to explore his works in totality in tribute to the loss of a brilliant artist. This is a journey that I have not yet completed, but it has been a tremendous self-actualizing experience. I am not alone in this journey. Last week, I watched Blue Velvet for the first time. Not long after I finished the film, analysis videos appeared on my Tiktok feed. It was a fine video and a sound analysis of the film, but not long after I felt as though I had been mentally visited by David Lynch's ghost; shaking his head in disappointment at me. For many years I had been happy to listen to reviews, video essays, other people's analyses, etc., sometimes even before coming to my own conclusions about them. I think the point of David Lynch's works β€” and indeed art, media, etc., broadly β€” is to keep asking questions about them. The second you come to a conclusion at all, you stop thinking about the work, and that magic of exploration is lost. David Lynch believed that within every human being is a vast ocean of consciousness, a creative force within us all or β€” in a word β€” magic. When you sit, think, ask questions, and catch your own unique ideas, this is a scrap of magic from that creative ocean within you. It's what makes you human. So please, put down your phone and log off of your computer a while. Go to a museum and stare at a painting that catches your fancy for a long, long time. Watch a weird artsy film and then take a walk in a park and argue with yourself. And never stop doing that. You are beautiful and capable of making ideas that no one else has had before. And that is magical and should be celebrated. Thank you for reading this kind of rambling post. I hope you have a nice evening. RIP David Lynch.
