Nothing like spending the day watching movies with my mom! My mom will literally watch anything that she hasnt seen before even if it looks/seems awful (we have such different taste in movies, i hate cop and military propaganda and natural disaster movies but she eats them up. just glad we both dislike fantasy movies). It helps me find cool stuff sometimes, like the jumanji reboot sequel is actually kinda fun if you dont think about it! We wonāt even fully pay attention sometimes but still just cool to hang out listening to the same thing

The original movie (in which he appeared as an extra) and the remakes. He loves pretty much all sci-fi and anything that takes out in outer space or involves aliens so Prometheus, Interstellar, Contact, Signs, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek, etc. Heās also very into hiking and backpacking so when I was growing up he loved survivalist shows like Dual Survival and Survivorman. And he loved the PBS show Globe Trekker! I got him into watching Twin Peaks; he never watched it when it originally aired but he loves it now. Heās still mad that Guillermo del Toroās adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness never came to fruition.
My mom has incredibly eclectic taste and every time I talk to her on the phone she tells me what sheās been watching. It can be anythingāforeign films, documentaries, indie movies, romances, comedies, period dramas, random British TV shows, every police procedural or detective show, anything campy. She loves spooky atmospheric ghost stories and sappy emotional dramas most of all, or educational content that she can learn from and expand her perspective on things.

Itās a given, but I like the rest of the team, love movies. The first one I saw was Scooby Doo, according to my parents. I cried when it got loud so they took me out of the theater. I love my parents. Showing movies to them is a deep pleasure of mine. Just like cooking for them, or getting them that thing they wanted for their birthday. People are surprised when I say this, but I show everything I screen to my family beforehand. Theyāre the Wizard behind the curtain of my programming. I talk with them about what should go first, and discuss the common themes the shorts I pick share. It makes me a better curator and programmer having my mom, dad, and sister in the room for help.

My dad loves ferris buellerās day off and oceans eleven. ive watched both upwards of a dozen times and can now quote them back and forth with him.
Meanwhile, my mom loves pride and prejudice (2006) and four weddings and a funeral.
Iām thankful for their interest in showing me movies when I was little and as Ive grown up.

coworker who followed me on letterboxd on my second day working there, who i rarely see, complimented my reviews this week and i got giddy as hell. She had me stuttering and i havent come down from that high, sheās so cool too
