If you're just starting to explore skincare, I'd recommend keeping it really simple at first. When I began my own skincare journey, I learned the hard way that less is definitely more. Jumping into a complex, 10-step routine right off the bat is tempting, but trust me, it's a bit like sprinting before you can walk. You'll probably find yourself enthusiastic for a couple of days, but it's all too easy to lose that spark and revert to having no routine at all. So, what's the best way to start? Stick to the absolute basics: Cleanse— A gentle face wash or cleanser should be your first step. It's all about keeping your skin clean and fresh. šŸ‡ Hydrate — Next, use a good moisturizer. It’s crucial for keeping your skin soft and hydrated. Protect — Finish off with sunscreen. It protects your skin from harmful UV rays and should never be skipped, rain or shine. These were the exact steps I started with. They're foolproof and sufficient for maintaining healthy skin, especially if you're not dealing with any particular skin problems. This basic routine can serve you well for a long time, letting you add more steps only if and when you feel the need.

You wanna start with the absolute simplest routine which includes: [] cleanser [] moisturizer [] sunscreen That's it really. From there, you can start incorporating other things. If you're in your 20s, retinol at night will do wonders (you're going to want to ease into this one). Check out Dr. Shereene Idriss on yt. Hope this helps!

i keep hearing this on tiktok from dermatologists and others and have to cosign as a lazy person who does not do much for her skin (mine is oily for reference). tbh it is in amazing shape and i admittedly do very little. in the morning i wash (avene cleanance), moisturize (avene hydrance - light + the laneige lip sleep mask but i use it when i wake up as well), and apply spf (elta md). at night i consider myself accomplished if i do anything at all tbh. i often sleep in my makeup from the day. if i do anything, i will just remove my makeup (lancome), tone (cosrx but likely switching to laneige soon), and moisturize (laneige water bank cream and lip sleep mask). something important that i learned on reddit last year is to always moisturize while your skin is wet. i am not rly particular about the specifics of this so if my face is still wet after washing i will just use that, otherwise i apply an essence (i use the one from philosophy). anyway according to me, all u have to really do every day is cleanse, moisturize, and protect, but im truly not an authority on this so if u have a dermatologist or similar source listen to them!!

For a simple routine you only need a face wash and a moisturiser— if your skin is more oily than dry, try Glossier’s cleanser concentrate, and if drier, try Glossier’s milky jelly cleanser or Cera Ve’s hydrating facial cleanser. If you have acne prone skin, a face wash with salicylic acid will help. Then use a good moisturiser; Cera Ve’s Daily Moisturising lotion is my workhorse, and I use Beekman 1802 Bloom Cream at night or when dry. Use a good sunscreen; I use Supergoop Every Single Face watery lotion, but anything that you like the texture of and will use consistently is best. Do those three things for a month or two, and it will feel much easier to fold other things into your routine where you notice you need them— that may be a serum, a chemical exfoliant, or an active. If you get breakouts and want an effective spot treatment, La Roche Posay’s effaclar duo is the best thing I’ve used— it’s more effective than patches or stickers, and minimally drying. Do you have particular skin concerns (dryness, dark spots, breakouts, redness, etc.)?
