I know it sounds so obvious. Journaled and read before bed and journaled again this morning, all because the temptation was removed. It really does work.

I start reading and find myself naturally getting sleepy enough to go back to sleep within the hour. It’s a great distraction from any racing thoughts or anxiety, but in my experience it only truly works when I absolutely avoid looking at my phone screen. 📱 ❌

I realized last month that I had basically developed the habit of ALWAYS looking at my phone. Walking around the house, brushing my teeth, eating, etc. I always had my phone out. I’ve removed a lot of social media apps from my phone, which helped, but the biggest game changer for me is just abandoning my phone upstairs or in another room. Reading a lot more, staying more focused, playing more fetch with my dog, life is good 😎

so that when i wake up there's at least some sort of threshold between me and my phone,—and that threshold requires putting on pants—so maybe (just maybe) i won't end up doomscrolling in bed in my underwear every morning. lowkey it works

I am by no means traditionally religious, but I fully understand how being in the presence of beautiful stained glass can feel like being with god. ALWAYS stop off at a church on the way if you think it might have good stained glass. The bluebells in the bottom right corner of this made me loose my breath for a moment.

I used to be envious of people who had “MySpace friends” or “tumblr friends”. Now I have PI.FYI friends. Thank you capyboppy for your lovely letter and this illustration of a capybara and a mouse with fruit on our heads, it made me weirdly emotional ❤️
