I use a heat press on some thrifted shirts and go to TOWN. Sorry but there’s a very limited selection of cool Liz Phair shirts for cheap so why not just make my own sick ass design. ok this isnt a old shirt this is a crop top I bought from my thrift store job with the express purpose of turning into a muscle tee but i digress!!!! they are fun and a good way to give unloved shirts new life!

I started doing this in a period when I was experiencing deep confusion about who I was. I found being in a hat or sweatshirt with some signifiers specific to me or an idea I wanted to live by that day pinned me down and pumped me up. I use Jonathan Embroidery Plus in the garment district but most malls have a stand that offers this service. Embroidery is expensive but I think cements the idea best.
