One of those rare albums I can’t just take bites from - it’s all or nothing for me.
Isn’t that the definition of “great album?”
I’m not sure it ever got better for Perry & Co. than their debut.
And this track - “Summertime Rolls” - may be the single greatest song about the joyous, spacious , airy rush of new love and/or drugs ever recorded. Eric Avery’s heartbeat bass is featured all over this record and I am HERE for it.

One of the least talked-about GOAT double albums ever.
I think I caught the band live for the first time on the “Sister” tour that preceded it - I’d never seen or heard anyone abuse guitars in such a creative and unusual way before that (or since).
Not a dud track on it.
A mind-blowing, life-altering, perspective-forming monster of a release. I was and have remained a fan ever since (and Kim Gordon is a goddess, I’ll go down with that particular ship forever).
When someone says “best NYC art rock” this is automatically my go-to reaction. Like a gallery showing for a new artist you can’t wait to tell your friends about. 🖤
P.S.: Yes it sucks that they're gone and I blame Thurston, of course.

Spinanes are easily one of Portland’s five best bands, ever.
Two pieces from this point forward (White Stripes, Black Keys, Japandroids, DFA 1979, the Kills) now had a template to work from.

In the Netherlands for some reason this is one of the most popular breakfasts. It's untoasted bread with butter, covered in chocolate sprinkles. It's spartan and a bit sad but it's hard not to get fuckin amped eating it, especially if you like sweet breakfasts

Super cute and earnest new zine out from Amsterdam about plants and gardening. Whole issue here about artichokes with art, history, and notes on how to grow it. I am an avid gardener and have some cool vintage gardening texts; super stoked this exists to add to the collection. Hopefully getting the issue on compost next time I'm over in NL
