This one isnt that long but it took me months because some of the grief and experiences he writes about are so raw and his writing would leave me so breathless I would have to keep taking breaks and have to set the book down for a few days. Never read anything so heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.

It has a romantic storyline, but is mostly an epistolary, coming-of-age novel that, to me, is the most ethereally beautiful book I've ever read. His words are delicate and light enough to float off the page, yet they carry a depth of emotion that lingers long after the final letter is read.

Have a few pages left but it’s already wowed me. Heartbreaking book. Not heartbreaking in just a depressing way, I mean heartbreaking in that it fills you the warmth of love and life before it takes it away. But how thrilling to get to feel it all. Also can tell the author thinks a lot about how language can shape thought and emotion, which maybe all writers do, but he writes about it beautifully. Also I didn’t mean for that pic to look that sick and influencer-y I promise I just set the book down and clicked

Am I sad I’m not in love? Or happy I’m not in love? I don’t know I just love watching people smoke cigarettes and cry in the rain and be messy on screen

a detective investigates a string of murders where all the victims are killed the same way-but each by different killers. it’s a fascinating look into the idea of the individual vs. society, the breaking point of “good people”, and a frightening reassurance that you can never truly know another person. Expert framing, great outfits, and solid plot, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I watched it on criterion channel earlier this week.
