Learning by rote is pure misery but sometimes you may want someone to feel that they have underestimated you.

We're at an age where we (adults in creative fields) are getting dumber in some ways and not practicing parts of our brain that can probably help us a lot with memory and basic survival skills. Let's bring back times tables, 5th-grade science, social studies quizzes, etc., and start practicing them again every day. If we can scroll endlessly on TikTok or read our daily horoscopes, why not test our brains and wake up ancient knowledge from years past that has not been exercised in possibly DECADES?? Especially math, though. Girl, I am in danger!! The other day, someone asked what 8x5 was, and for some reason I immediately said "35" and was like, "no wayament-it's 40..." and my partner was like, "isn't it 45?" And then, we were talking about different types of rocks, and I could name igneous and sedimentary, but I fully forgot about METAMORPHIC. Y'all we don't know jack shit anymore and I am concerned. I am genuinely interested in printing out grade-school quizzes and doing them as an activity with friends at this point. It is my actual fear to become a dumbass!!! I am trying to be a smartass 4ever!!!

it’s kind of like a video game in that each next part takes a lot of tries and patience bcus it’s a completely new task or challenge ur facing, and u have to restart probably a lot, but after so many times u will know how to •beat• the first levels/steps so well and, perhaps, have a deeper understanding of /why/ certain moves work. and u can apply that skill in the next parts! i looked up & nearly memorized an alg like last year and had always regretted not trying from scratch and like playing around with my cube on my own first til i made progress. but now i’ve forgot certain steps or tricks to it so i’ve been trying to supplement my solving using trial and error and some mathematical imagination. i really recommend this process
