this mindset was taught to me when i first started running (thank you coach she’s a real one 🄹) and i guess this applies in other aspects of life, like building habits. also this is a very personal fuck you to perfectionism bc i finally finished updating my 2024 portfolio wooooooo celebrating incremental progress and focusing on building momentum is better than letting perfectionism drag you down šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

The best advice I've found, especially as a perfectionist. As someone who always strives for flawlessness, I've realized this mindset can often hold me back. It's easy to get caught up in making everything just right, but that can lead to never finishing projects or, worse, never starting them. This advice reminds me to focus on completion rather than perfection. It's about making progress and not letting the fear of imperfection paralyze you. You can always refine and improve something once it exists, but you can't improve what you haven't created yet. It's about striking a balance between quality and actually getting things done

paired with ā€œgood enough is better than perfectā€ — this has helped me (a chronic perfectionist) balance staying on top of my goals while not being so hard on myself.

i’ve spent a lot of my * career * accomplishing life goals, but barely noticing because i’ve been so quick to push the finish line further, if you get me. it goes something like this- throughout childhood, maybe you follow a blog, maybe it’s key in forming the foundations of your taste. for YEARS the dream is to grace the pixels of the holy fork. and then, it happens, they review the record, they say nice things, and just like that you understand it’s possible. you’re playing ball in a new league, so you keep playing, you know what it takes so you play hard, and barely notice the w. this past week i rolled out a project that i’ve been working on for a long time. it’s not linked here because that’s not what i’m recommending- i’m taking my own gd advice and taking a gd sec to be pumped i made things and am showing them to people. i am not enlightened; i will get back to relentlessly ā€œmarketingā€ in no time. for now though, it’s cool to make a thing, so i made a cool thing, and now i think it’s cool i made that thing. i recommend remembering to take 1 sec to remember it’s cool you made a thing, because it’s cool you made a thing. you can find my thing on my page, send me yr thing too so i can be like ā€œcool hell yeah.ā€

there is something so deeply intimate about knowing a person’s penmanship. you could know someone for years even but not know what their handwriting looks like. i had a coworker (turned friend) at my old job tell me how when she misses me she looks at the post-it with the passwords i had written for my work accounts. (sharing mine here bc in my head i’m friends with everyone who comes across this post. pi.fyi community has gotten me through some tough times last year and i love learning new things through people’s recs here!!)

it still baffles me that there are people out there who heavily rely on chatgpt, maybe even have fully replaced google, to make the decisions for them. idk which is worse using chatgpt or tiktok as a search engine bc what the actual fuck ?? 😭
