Earnest, sexy, funny, moving; in sum, everything most movies are not today. One of many gems by Alan Parker & Co.

ā€Almost Famousā€ is a nearly flawless two and a half hours of enchanting cinema and enthralling music. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere, a fantastic 70s vibe and is one of the best and most unique coming of age films out there. Give this one a watch if you haven’t seen it yet, it might change your life :)

Gay Pirate Robert De Niro.. need I say more?! Jokes aside, this movie is striking and underrated. It explores themes of self-namely sacrifice and personal growth. It highlights the importance of ambition, bravery, and commitment. It’s wonderfully funny, and portrays a realistic fairytale love: not one of love at first sight, but one of stubbornness, growth in comfort, and acceptance. It’s pure, beautifully designed. I don’t want to give too much away, if you haven’t seen it and are craving a profound exploration into personal relationship through reinvented folklore themes, I urge you to watch this one.

brilliant. beautiful and funny and heartwrenching and silly and all around fantastic. the more i think about this movie the more i love it. tells an unconventional tale of self-confidence, self-sabotage, regret and jealousy, etc etc the ending was a bit silly but i can look past it lol. what a fantastic cast and fantastic production. they frame things throughout as if it were to look like a stage production only for that to be the eventual main plot point. one of my favorite scenes (if not films) of the year

There's never been a better setting for a pitch black noir gangster film than the slag heap wasteland of Northeast England in the 1970s. Caine miraculously finds a emotional center in an otherwise duplicitous, amoral bastard of anti-hero. If you catch the remastered version then I envy you.
