Earnest, sexy, funny, moving; in sum, everything most movies are not today. One of many gems by Alan Parker & Co.

ā€Almost Famousā€ is a nearly flawless two and a half hours of enchanting cinema and enthralling music. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere, a fantastic 70s vibe and is one of the best and most unique coming of age films out there. Give this one a watch if you haven’t seen it yet, it might change your life :)

brilliant. beautiful and funny and heartwrenching and silly and all around fantastic. the more i think about this movie the more i love it. tells an unconventional tale of self-confidence, self-sabotage, regret and jealousy, etc etc the ending was a bit silly but i can look past it lol. what a fantastic cast and fantastic production. they frame things throughout as if it were to look like a stage production only for that to be the eventual main plot point. one of my favorite scenes (if not films) of the year

funny documentary about a working class midwestern guy just trying to get his film made. feels like a mockumentary but it’s real. bittersweet with a looming sadness, but if anything it’s hopeful. definitely inspired napoleon dynamite and hot rod one of my new favorites methinks…

There's never been a better setting for a pitch black noir gangster film than the slag heap wasteland of Northeast England in the 1970s. Caine miraculously finds a emotional center in an otherwise duplicitous, amoral bastard of anti-hero. If you catch the remastered version then I envy you.
