saw this a while back at the london film fest about the repatriation of artefacts to benin. the debate scenes were great - really interesting way to show the impassioned responses of people from all sides to the return of the statues

sorry I know it’s cringe but I love the 8 hour Peter Jackson *** documentary get back . I watched it over a Xmas with my family and we all adored it . actually just a really beautiful series about a group of young guys outgrowing each other. Highlights are : George’s outfits, Paul introducing Linda McCartney as A ‘cameraman’, silent footage of yoko Ono and Linda chatting , billy Preston arriving and changing the game. Maybe it’s because i love the Beatles, maybe it’s cuz Paul McCartney looks like my dad, maybe it’s the ridiculously lovely colour grade but … get back 4EVR!!!!

in-depth documentary about the US far right following three different men from before the 2020 election through to the January 6th insurrection (quite literally—they went and filmed there in person). the filmmakers began work on the film in 2018 and started filming in 2020. it’s really interesting, and certainly very relevant today!
also. about half of the showings have Q&As moderated by other filmmakers and activists - tonight’s q&a w the filmmakers (7:30 showing) will be moderated by Laura Poitras (Citizenfour, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed)
go see it! (this is in NYC, but i believe they are bringing it elsewhere)

came home for christmas and saw my friends i grew up with. i don’t know if we met today if we’d be friends because we’re in such different stages of life BUT there is something so comforting about how they would know where the glasses are kept in your house and who you fancied in year 10 and what your dad likes to do on a sunday and so many little pieces that make you who you are today. big up home town friends

these days i have a tendency to dismiss watching series with over 10 episodes because too much commitment but i recently started watching prison break and have been thinking a lot about how a lot of my favourite series are old shows with like 20+ episodes per series. i think it’s probably a by-product of consumerism and brain rot plus everything gets cancelled these days but yeah idk i always get drawn back into watching old shows with long seasons
