I absolutely love getting a physical book, particularly ones from charity shops etc because they're so cheap!
However I totally get your points about reading on a kindle. I have one and when I read something on there I do think I find it easier and so read faster, and for longer. Turning pages is a little easier so you can read at any angle easily, it packs into any bag (and most coats), and a book is often way cheaper digitally. Plus, if you use Amazon's email-to-kindle service, you can actually send any pdf/epub to the kindle, meaning you have the option to read anything in public domain (e.g. Project Gutenberg) or...uh... anywhere else you magically find online, for free!
Granted, I'm talking about a physical kindle. I don't use the app on my phone much, but it is pretty good as well. I would suggest taking a look on eBay or the like for older Paperwhite models β mine is probably from 2014 and it's perfect. Not sure how much they go for second hand but weigh it against the price of another haul of books!

personally i have enjoyed physical books over digital copies over the years, but I usually order my books used. 1) i want to be cheap 2) i kinda like the idea of having this passed down item with a bit of age 3) the smell of a book is enticing
And like you mentioned, spending a lot of time on my phone or Ipad makes me want to take time away from electronics and go towards a hard copy.
where i get my used books: ThriftBooks, AbeBooks, Half Priced Books, used bookstores, Goodwills, Free Little Libraries around me, and the like

i read on kindle for a few years, until i started noticing that i barely remembered some of the books i read! i like to have a print book now so i can form a relationship with it as a physical object, which i guess helps me remember more about it. lately iβve been buying them and giving them away after, but i want to use the library more too. lugging around a book everywhere i go is just one of the welcome inconveniences in my life :β)

I wake up thinking about my kindle. I take it everywhere with me. On the train? Reading my kindle. At the park? Reading my kindle. In bed at 8pm? Reading my kindle.
I also was sick of buying books that sucked and being stuck with an object that took up space so now if I love a book on my kindle I buy a physical copy. Expensive habit but worthwhile imo.

Koudelka was a photographer who documented Europe from the 60s onwards, recording the lives of travelling people, Soviet invasions, struggles with poverty, and more. He later became a member of the Magnum society and continued his work into old age. If you have the time, it's really worth digging into his work as he had a real eye for striking images that provide a lot of context for the situation he was in. He used to travel with very little besides a sleeping bag and camera so he often experienced the harsher side of life while on the job. At times his photos were smuggled out of the soviet borders, and published anonymously, to keep him safe. Check the link for a good starting point on Magnum's website!

Just finished up a week-long run of Shakespeare's Richard the Third and feeling so proud of everyone involved. I love acting and hope it'll become a bigger part of my life, but even with that said working on this latest production has been so inspirational. I've met and gotten to know so many fantastic people putting their all into theatre as a hobby β for a few of them this was their first time onstage and it was so fun watching them grow and shine as we neared opening night.
Personally, my role in the play as the Duchess of York wasn't a key character, but it was one I found massively challenging for a number of reasons β but once we got into live performances something clicked and I felt like with each show I learned something new about myself and the role.
I can't recommend this enough as an opportunity to meet new people, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and also guilt your friends into spending nearly three hours in a dark cramped room π
