ok I’m biased bc these are some of my faves but these are a few movies that either changed how i viewed the world or how I appreciated the power of film: (in no particular order) donnie darko akira melancholia prisoners atonement interstellar the shining gummo pulp fiction kill bill carrie (1976) martyrs arrival pan’s labryinth dazed & confused dogtooth the virgin suicides thirteen sorry there’s so many I got excited 😭

Last Black Man in San Fran / Joe Talbot poetic, important, and stunning cinematography/imagery Burning / Lee Chang-dong subtle, sexy, and visually tempermental Climax / Gaspar Noé fucking insane, queer-coded, and horrifying Shoplifters / Hirokazu Kore-eda incredibly tender, nostalgic score, and makes me cry every damn time
