Quirky, crunchy, jazzy, experimental, light hearted fun. This song stirred emotions in me I hadn't yet felt before, and it caused me to break up with my ex. The live performance of this song also goes unfathomably hard, they bring the tiny singer on stage (presumably a younger sister of a band member) and she has a fucking blast.

Montréal disco at its funkiest meets Muscle Shoals vocals at their most commanding (with metatextually instructive lyrics for the wallflowers). Jazzy horn solo. Handclaps throughout

for some probably unlistenably messy, dissonant, and grungy but still i think its so fun and annoyingly catchy and really really good! - honestly a really funny thing for sonic youth to do at the peak of madonna's fame

there are soooo many options but it's gotta be this one, it's just so good and thematically it works really well, all the lyrics still make sense in the context of the 1920s.

Was (still am) going through some stuff a couple of weeks ago, stayed in my bed for like 3 days, started thinking about my emotions to the point where I couldn't feel anything without writing about it for like an hour. Went to the zoo to feel better, decided i still wanted to journal my feelings but decided not to spoil them by trying to intellectualise them. Just felt the emotions and wrote as if I were a monkey experiencing them (oh ooh ooh, ah ah AH AHH AH etc). Sometimes these replicated the sounds and emotions of the weird lil guys before me, but sometimes they brought out a simplified inner reflection of what I was feeling. honestly 50% of the time I was hoping someone would notice me sitting by the gibbon enclosure for half an hour, intently taking notes with a frown on my face like some kind of wannabee zookeper, only to notice i'm writing "ooh oooh ooh ah ah ah". that shit would change my brain chemistry viewing it as an outsider lol. But the other 50% of the time I managed to feel a sense of peace while exploring emotions, something that I hadn't felt in a little while. 10/10, I would recommend to anyone whos a little stuck in their own head, or anyone who finds joy in gifting some weirdness into a strangers day.
