Joachim Trier's third "Oslo" film became renowned for a very good reason. Well, really many very good reasons. Perfect film for anyone going through a mid-20s crisis, Renate Reinsve's Julie is a wonderfully deep, nuanced, and relateable character who makes a lot of terrible decisions alongside a lot of wonderful ones. The film's cast is pretty stellar (standout being Anders Danielsen Lie) and its structure sucks you into all the petty or powerful dramas that happen in four years of life.
Because a lot of the production is so naturalistic, the stylised elements hit even harder. It's a beautiful film.

Never seen a relationship depicted like this in another film. It helped me process my first heartbreak. There's a comment on Letterboxd which says "what on god's green earth."

The 2021 Joachim Trier movie where this girl is running and where she didn’t say the line about the things one fears the most, no, that was actually her dying of cancer ex.
So my best friend and his new partner (my friend-in-law) are harsh on the main character for her allegedly unmoral doings (cheating, being a pain in the ass, never settling for what’s good for her), but I like the little norwegian sinner. The way she already cheated in her mind and heart, but will state otherwise out loud to jam her thoughts.
Im not going for the disturbing the comfortable quote, no, that’s a low hanging fruit. But why consume works of fiction to judge the sinful, and not find our own worst fears and weaknesses in them? As if the title didn’t have it coming.
By the way, the ending sucks ass

Koudelka was a photographer who documented Europe from the 60s onwards, recording the lives of travelling people, Soviet invasions, struggles with poverty, and more. He later became a member of the Magnum society and continued his work into old age. If you have the time, it's really worth digging into his work as he had a real eye for striking images that provide a lot of context for the situation he was in. He used to travel with very little besides a sleeping bag and camera so he often experienced the harsher side of life while on the job. At times his photos were smuggled out of the soviet borders, and published anonymously, to keep him safe. Check the link for a good starting point on Magnum's website!

Just finished up a week-long run of Shakespeare's Richard the Third and feeling so proud of everyone involved. I love acting and hope it'll become a bigger part of my life, but even with that said working on this latest production has been so inspirational. I've met and gotten to know so many fantastic people putting their all into theatre as a hobby — for a few of them this was their first time onstage and it was so fun watching them grow and shine as we neared opening night.
Personally, my role in the play as the Duchess of York wasn't a key character, but it was one I found massively challenging for a number of reasons — but once we got into live performances something clicked and I felt like with each show I learned something new about myself and the role.
I can't recommend this enough as an opportunity to meet new people, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and also guilt your friends into spending nearly three hours in a dark cramped room 😁
