i think you would like the feminine complex. a band from the 60s who were ahead of their time in some ways so it may satisfy the vintage craving of yours. in terms of tone, you may also really enjoy newdad. the song blue in particular gives me immunity vibes in a way. kate bollinger also blends the vintage and pensive pop worlds really well, so check her out if you haven't already. yards and gardens + who am i but someone are great tracks to start with. mind shrine often have a silky 60s/70s thing going on i feel like i remember her playing some wendy & bonnie on an nts set of hers once! i recommend the song five o clock in the morning! hey there lonely boy by ruby and the romantics maybe isn't as clairo adjacent as the other recs, but a solid gold oldie for sure!

An artist I always like to recommend is Molly Drake (Nick Drake's mom) who wrote some incredibly unique music, all home recorded in the 60s. I like to say it sounds like Mary Poppins on anti-depressants. Then maybe Tucker Zimmerman? Singersongeriter active since the 60s who just released a new album made in collaboration with Big Thief. If you wanna try recent things, I find Allegra Krieger and Naima Bock two awesome singer songwriters

and like we all know there’s no one truly like her, that’s a given. finding someone on the same plane as her is not easy. i’m sure you already know to look to sega bodega and arca for her heavier, boundary pushing side. and hannah diamond for the bubblegum on steroids side. saya gray is a good match, if not the best match, experimentally imo. not as intense and in-your-face but just as interesting. you might also really like some 90’s- early 2000s björk and early fka twigs in terms of production sound. a little bit more out there is kill alters… however a lot of their earlier catalogue is like more ambient and industrial territory. maybe the more experimental bits of rosalía’s motomami? i hope some of these help </3

They're both definitely distinct but I feel like perhaps North by Clairo or Tile by Tile by Alvvays give me similar vibes. I'm not super familiar with Ethel Cain but she seems to be more folk-leaning than these two. Maybe try Faye Webster?
