I’m an early early bird, like 430am. Once there’s a little bit of sunlight, I go for a run. I’m so pleased by what I find out in the world from the night before. Yes, it can be a grab bag (used condoms and spilled noodles), but I’m a narrative maker so it charms me. Lately it’s a lot of bbq packets from McD’s and whip its at construction sites.

Nothing beats a nice walk on a 69-71°F morning, just basking in that not-too-hot morning sunlight and letting the birdsong wake you up naturally.
If I could bottle these mornings up and keep them on my nightstand, I would.

The superstition is this: on the first day of the month, one is supposed to say “Rabbit, rabbit” to ensure a month of good luck. I adore this superstition, like making a circle of protective salt around you for the entire 28, 30, or 31 days of a month. in theory, it’s supposed to be the first words you utter on that 1st day, but I make my life easier by just making sure I say it at some point during the day. I love superstitions, but I like also throwing in a bit of my own luck in there. So say “rabbit, rabbit,” why don’t ya? I’ll say it several extra times in honor of those who read this a little later on.

Yes I work in a cemetery. My favorite part is saying hello to the graves. Judy Garland, Johnny Ramone, Rudolph Valentino, Pee-wee Herman. Honestly, it’s a sweet tribute being around them. I make it a point to visit cemeteries in most cities I visit, but this one holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of my top two.
