Philosophical logic and propositional calculus is actually kind of beautiful. The way we speak is so fascinating and every word, its identity, it’s quantity, its placement, its limits, and its relations are so important and there is so much value within this

I’ve been getting really into philosophy again lately since I’ve been reading Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder, and I wish there was a website that was an interactive timeline/ map that was a visual resource for learning philosophy. I imagine it is a map of the world where you can click on/ zoom in on different places, and there is also a slider for the year, so as the world changes and empires crumble, the lines on the map converge and change as well, so you can see where in the world AND in what year(s) certain philosophers were active, and who their peers were. Since you could also filter through time, you could watch the philosophers on their journeys. I think it would also be cool to have little blurbs with political context as well, so you can very visually build a more complete picture of what was happening, and follow how they were thinking and some of the outside influences that may have lead them to their conclusions.

i know philosophy is always seen as pretentious and boring, and some of it is, but we are SO privileged to have access to a written history dating back millennia of the pursuit of understanding humanity. the fact that we have wanted to understand what it means to be human so badly that we have been writing about our theories since the moment we created written language is a philosophy in and of itself. find what studies of thought you relate to the most! marxism, nihilism, absurdism, existentialism, feminism, whatever! find the beauty in thought! philosophy does not always have to be 800 page books of some old dead white guys dense musings. plenty of novels cover philosophical issues, like piranesi by suzanna clark. reading philosophy, in my experience, helps expand your empathy and understanding of the human condition while helping you discover yourself as well. read with purpose! it's a magical thing. please share your favorite philosophical texts you've read with me :) i'm always looking for new ones <3
