the basics (phone wallet keys) plus a book (more purse-sized books please) plus mints, hair pin, snack, lip balm, fidget toy-of-the-moment, hand lotion, a lucky rock, and a pen. birthday gift was a smallish handbag so I’m trying with this abbreviated cache, but tbh lately I’m also bringing a pair of shearling slides and three more books to work daily in a supplementary baggu (i’m a bookseller)

I’m sure you’ve seen it, but if it’s been awhile (it had been for me) I recommend a re-watch. My mom‘s husband had been politicking for its election as our annual x-mas watch for years and I was finally out-voted in its favor this year; I can admit I was wrong. I was near to sobbing by the end and its old-timey-ness did not detract from the incredible writing, pacing, and understanding of the human condition, rendering it - actually - time*less*.
