Focus on the things you would usually disregard, things that seem insignificant or average. There’s unbelievable value in everything around us, such tiny details making up these big things we barely think about. If you can spark up a sense of wonder in yourself for everything you pass by you will find it hard not to want to photograph everything you pass as well

I feel like paying more attention to the tiny mundane things in life that bring you some joy can make a big difference in reining in some of the negative thoughts and feelings. easier said than done but ascribing more weight and meaning to even the tiniest things makes me feel generally happier and more focused on the present. like going for a walk and being in nature even for a few mins, seeing a cat in someone’s window, making yourself a hot chocolate in your favorite mug when it’s cold outside

If you can do this, every day is filled with moments that fill you with joy and wonder. This already happened to me like eight times today, starting with my perfect smoothie (other moments included seeing a squirrel, walking past these cool flowers that look like fried eggs, and smelling the new perfume samples I ordered). It’s pretty easy, just go stand outside and look at something beautiful. There are gorgeous things everywhere. If you’re having trouble connecting with this, which I do sometimes because I’m not a lobotomized freak and also because life can truly beat you down, just take like 1-2 grams of mushrooms like two hours before sunset and then go on a super long walk with great music in your headphones and I promise you’ll remember how fucking cool it is just to get to be alive.

I think there’s something so peaceful in noticing your surroundings and taking everything in. We are most of the time in such a hurry to get somewhere that we forget the place we are currently in. Trying to remind myself “don’t forget you are here as a person.”

I have a very strong desire for control over every aspect of my life and I’ve never been able to roll with things. Lately I’m trying to let go of this so I can participate in my ‘friendships’, which I have really been neglecting in recent years. Today a friend texted and asked me to go to the farmers market with her. At first I felt scared (lol) and inclined to ignore the message but I decided instead I would agree to go, and within 5 minutes I was in her car with her. It was a total blur and I was anxious out of my mind but I felt very grateful to spend time with someone I love. I’m terrible at conversing but even just to stand beside her was nice. We hugged before parting ways. I am glad that I did this.

If it irritates you to see people being negative, you know thats not something you yourself want to be. Dwell on why negativity bothers you. I‘d guess it has something to do with an innate knowledge that we all deserve kindness. Typically super negative people feel horribly about themselves, they have no other reason to say the things they do. It’s the type of person that tends to annoy me as well but when I think about that it makes me really sad for them, and then it feels easier to be compassionate. Anger releases dopamine. If you’re sad all the time, it feels better to get angry for a while. They’re struggling and desperately trying to make themselves feel better. We all need each others love.

It’s a French romantic comedy that gets increasingly chaotic and hysterical until a somewhat desolate end.
