Was up working late in the shop with a couple of guys I vaguely know;
Guy #1 got broken up with his high school sweetheart, got a mullet the day after, and feels stupid.
Guy #2 fell in love with a girl but didn't know her "true colors". He didn't like when she didn't let him drink at his uncle's wedding.
Guy #3 met the most amazing woman in his entire life, who was perfect for him in every way, but couldn't make it work cuz of their conflicting schedules. They just couldn't ever see each other. They didn't speak for half a year, she got another man, then got into a car accident that took her life. Guy 3 says whoever he dates next (and if) has some pretty high standards to reach.

This happened to a friend of a friend
Guy matched with a girl on tinder and saw her on the train. spent The whole train ride deciding whether or not he should mention it.
They get off at the same stop. Hes still deciding. After all, she hadn’t noticed him.
When they get off, they also happen to to head in the same direction. theyre taking the same exit. Jubilant from the piling coincidences, he says hi to her as they go through the standing turnstile.
She smiles. he tells her they matched on Tinder.
Then the turnstile jams. They’re stuck together for 20 minutes. The girl’s smile turns to disgust. they never see each other again.

he’s not a blood family member but he might as well be. a few years back I was in an unhealthy romantic relationship and one day over lunch I was regaling him with my woes and he just told me “I don’t like this for you man. you deserve someone who’s gonna lasso the moon for you.” def snapped me out of my complex of needing to minimize my own needs to win the affection of someone who was content to receive without reciprocating. ultimately I had to figure it out on my own but he definitely put a rock in my shoe about the situation.
just this past weekend I was back in town and had dinner with him and he told me about his relationship issues that I wasn’t super aware of and it hit me that we we’re back in the same conversation but on opposite sides of the table now. I reminded him of how he had helped me with perspective with my ex and it helped him see the parallels between both of our toxic attachments. he ended up breaking things off before I left town. what goes around comes around.
