Under pressure – queen & DAVID BOWIE

I used to not think much about this song when I was younger– I thought it was very repetitive– but then I watched Aftersun, and I actually listened to the lyrics for the first time. If you take the verses at face value, they seem disjointed, as if multiple ideas are being thrown together into a single song. Funnily enough, that's exactly what unifies them. There are multiple interpretations out there about the meaning of this song, but for me, it's about the pressures people feel when seeking acceptance in a world preoccupied with conformity and maintaining a certain status quo. The very things that force people to "fit in" are also the things that tear us apart by allowing us to lead with fear and hatred of the unknown. Another one of Maddie's fav songs!!! I'm not sure how I found this song, probs through spotify algorithm or something ... butt this song is amazinggg the keys and layering so good.... i love when I show someone a song and they fall in love with it too! showed this to my partner at the time and it became one of his favs too... i love sharing music!!! this entire album is really good I highly recommend! 💒 On our picture shelves (Get on, or get out) Statues mocking me How am I supposed to feel? The most prominent example of this I can think of is when A.G. Cook does this a few times in his remix of So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings (linked). It floors me every time. You can hear it most prominently at 2:09 before she comes in with “get a little lonely” and it’s like shoving a fork in a light socket. If I were in charge people would be doing this all the time.
