Dedicating my 1st post to fish n chips I just love how unfussy this meal looks (and was) Yes it’s true best things in life are…not always free…but the simple things <3 It’s even better when it’s food that tastes good That’s poetry imo

i want to invest myself in learning how to make good food and be able to share that with others. i was thinking about how sad it is that cooking is a hobby that produces perishable work. it doesn’t last forever and eventually i will have nothing to show for what i’ve done. but i think the fact that food is fleeting reflects how nothing in life lasts and everything is always changing; we can only appreciate what we have in the present and i think food brings us back to that notion. whether it’s sharing a meal at home with ur parents or catching up with a friend over lunch or enjoying a new cafe on ur own, food is meant to bring ur mind to the current moment in that u are tasting, seeing, smelling, and interacting with the item before u. to be able to offer that to my loved ones and also share that experience with them is a privilege, even if it is short-lived.

i just made the most delightful scrumptious dinner. get this - asiago bagel, toasted, duh. cream cheese. gingerly, delicately placed spinach, and then smoked salmon on top, sprinkled with pepper. the whole process of making my meal, i was mindful, i was excited about it, i took my time. and you know what - i tasted the love. i can tell it was made with the purpose of nourishing my body, being delicious, and being love-filled, obviously. thank you, me :')

I remember when I was younger, beautiful gift wrapping was a massive thing - at department stores, for birthdays, special occasions, etc, and it really made the act of gifting feel so much more special... but feels like well thought out gifting is less common now. I’ve been looking at some pics for inspo and particularly loving furoshiki (Japanese wrapping style using cloth)… just now waiting for a reason to wrap something nicely for someone!
