lessons in his apartment, he always does something kind of weird. today he showed off he could put his leg over his head while standing up. the other day he made coffee on the floor. he owns two ipads and a iphone all so old and small they still have the home button. he keeps his sweaters folded and ontop his bookshelf. he is my favorite person right now.

a couple weeks ago, i bumped into a friend that i say hi to every now and then, but don’t know much about. i’ve always thought he’s cute. we were both walking to the library to study, so we were talking and getting to know each other. i mentioned that i want to live back at home after i graduate uni because i would miss my dog (and parents) too much. then i showed him my lock screen of my dog. this song was playing (important!) and he stared at the screen for awhile and i thought that was strange because it wasn’t hard to see the pic of my dog. my delulu self thought he was trying to read the song name to listen to it later. we ended up spending the rest of the day together, studying, trying to get to know each other while flirting, and then got taco bell for dinner (literally a date yk). he also paid for my drink at our campus cafeđŸ„č 2 weeks ago, we were studying together again and i asked if he had spotify. he said yes, and i said that we should make a shared playlist that blends our music (i listen to it every day). the other day this song showed up and on the side it had both of our profiles
basically we both had listened to it, and it’s SO CUTE because he is so observant and makes an effort to get to know me. and no i don’t think he alr knew who caroline polachek is based on what he listen to. anyway i really really like him and this might be the start of a love story pls wish me luckđŸ€žđŸ»

let me set the scene: it’s 7:45 on a Tuesday night, you are listening to your peers perform their musical pieces they’ve been working on. Next up is your friend who’s been practicing a duet with his buddy from the local symphony who you’ve never met. Your friend—the pianist—adjusts his chair as the cellist tunes. You’ve never met this cellist before, but he looks familiar. He’s the only guy in the room wearing a suit—other than you, sitting in your half-wet bathing suit from your earlier river adventure. Wait, is the cellist wearing palm tree and coconut socks? Yes, he is. They are playing through the piece when your phone rings, it’s your roommate! You quietly exit out the open side door and situate yourself in the little patch of violets outside, listening as your roommate exclaims her excitement about the art she just made for an event you’re planning. You finish your phone call and wait patiently for the performers to finish
you stare at the coconut socks. They strike the last chord and you applaud from your violet patch outside, waiting as to not interrupt their moment. They receive feedback from the professors and peers, and another student gets up to perform
. You’re still thinking about the palm trees
After it is all over and you’ve finished stacking up a few chairs you make your way over to the cellist and grab his attention. “I wanted to say earlier, I love your socks.” He looks up excitedly, smiling, “I was waiting for someone to notice, you’re the only one who did.” You and the cellist converse for 20 minutes or so, introducing each other and getting to know the history behind the palm tree socks. It’s getting late, and you’ve both places to be, “I’d love to continue our conversation later.” You flash him a smile and hand him your phone, ”here, put your number in.” He takes it and starts typing, pausing to finish his thought, “I’m glad we met,” he smiles “Me too,” you smile back as he hands you your phone. ”Text me so I know it’s you?“ he asks. Later that evening, after he leaves and you finish practicing, you pick up your phone and text him. “It was a joy meeting you today, maybe we can go for a walk or grab lunch sometime? I can show you my cool socks.” you hit send. “great to meet you, too, how’s Friday?” “it’s a plan:)” All because of a pair of socks.,

i met my girlfriend cilantro what feels like forever ago in an extracurricular chamber music program when i was 15 . they were 14 & cooler & weirder than me & a significantly better violist than i was a cellist . they had dark heavy eyeliner & a blue & red bowie tank top they had made themselves (this is probably not what they were actually wearing when we met but it’s how i remember them from this time) they were the hottest & most interesting person in the program & we became close friends over the year before dating off and [mostly] on for the last 14 years . since then they’ve seen me through countless changes & mistakes & successes big & small & a couple different genders & sexualities . it’s a true joy to have someone who knows you so deeply & in so many ways & who can still surprise & delight you all the time . the longest & best friendship i will ever have <3

nothing says settling into the night and winding down at the kickback than whipping out the tarot deck and your friends asking if their ex is gonna reach out.
