Ignore the rating that letterboxed gave this movie, so many people only watched it for Sebastian Stanās character to thirst after him, which is crazy because he is an evil conniving prick in this movie.
I just watched it last night, and I love it. It is so campy, there are some very funny moments in it despite it being a horror movie, but there are also moments that make you go āEw! No! Girl wtf are we doing??ā

Cuckoo was unexpectedly emotional and had me crying in the theater. It leaned more towards campy sci-fi thriller B-movie to me and the trailer unfortunately blew its load on some of the best moments (as trailers often do) but I enjoyed itāgorgeous and fun to watch!
Oddity is atmospheric and perfectly executed as a slow burn spooky story with a modern gothic feel. I regret not having seen it in theaters during its limited run because Iām sure it would have been especially intense but it was still pretty scary to watch at home. Giddy thrills!
Also I just finished Immaculateā¦ I wanted to hate it and Sydney Sweeney badly needs a dialogue coach but it was a fun vibey Giallo homage (thematically not visually). I love how goofy and over the top it was. Impressive that she managed to find a way to show her boobs in a movie where she plays a nun
(Notice Longlegs is not on this list. I feel like Iām harshly critical towards it because it was so ambitious but didnāt stick the landing and could have been better without exposition dump and loss of tension at the end. I would have preferred a little more mystery and ambiguity and also maybe more esoteric occult elementsā¦ I absolutely hated The Blackcoatās Daughter but I could have loved this one and instead I feel lukewarm towards it š)

Such a strange movie. usually i like movies with no real plot but i was scared the whole time. Morvern girl what is wrong with u. But laawwwdd i know why my film studies prof chose it. a movie with barely any structure and insane visuals and it Still has substanceā something directors now have no idea how to do successfullyā¦ (cough cough saltburn cough cough longlegs) so haunting visually and emotionally iāve been thinking about it all week

I think AI is impersonal. I think it is unethical when it has relied on the theft of actual peopleās actual physical (and because of the nature of art, often time emotional) labor. I also think it is unnecessary in creating art. I also think the environmental impacts are atrocious. I also think AIās biggest supporters are being maliciously ignorant because itās a fun new toy.
Is it ease? Is it efficiency? People talk about accessibility as if children donāt use crayons and stickers! As if graffiti artists donāt use postal labels as sticker, as if sand mandalas donāt exist, as if cardboard and tape arenāt in over abundance.
