been following this band since their debut and they are just undoubtedly cool. The lead singer Nina has another project called ‘NINA’ with some collabs with dean blunt (mainly black metal 2), and mark william lewis (another band you should check out), whilst Fehmi and Fenton are in a duo called ‘double virgo‘ - both side projects being so good you could call Bar Italia a super group. Tracey denim came out in 2023, full of addictive riffs, drum beats, and incredible vocals - it’s cool, it’s sexy, and it’s one of the best albums to come out in this decade.

Obviously your mileage may vary based on your tolerance for hardcore punk, but if you're so inclined, this was their last show before going on hiatus for a few years. The raw energy in the room is unfathomable; skip to the last two minutes if you don't believe me.
That hiatus is when two side projects really started taking off, too. Justice (the vocalist) started pumping out Angel Du$t albums, and Brendan (the drummer) started to become much better-known for his band Turnstile... Astute viewers will notice Franz from Turnstile singing around 39 minutes into this set as well! This show, to me, feels like a big bang that sent those two bands hurtling towards the 2020s to redefine the genre.

My friend Aaron put me onto Badvril, the best band presently crawling out of San Francisco—the cesspool from whence we all came. And they sound like it, in all the most perfect, sludgy, narcotic, dreamy, total-eclipsing sort of ways. If you like shoegaze, Catherine Wheel, early Pumpkins, '90s alt revival, or melodic punk that pre-dates the Hot Topic era, you will die and go to heaven listening to their I AM GOD EP. that came out in February.
The desirous thing about becoming a fan before there is too much noise is that it's easy to catch up on their back catalogue. And then Becket becomes your Instagram friend and sends you the new unreleased album and it's the best music you've ever heard in your life. One wrong move and they could be too huge to handle. I wish them all the money in the world.
