had really long, past shoulder length long hair and cut it off post COVID for a buzzed head. Had that buzzed head for about two years but learnt my hair grew too fast to maintain the buzz consistently. So growing it out again. But what grinds my brain is relearning how much time having hair took from my day! Like setting a schedule of washing it, brushing it, oiling it, it's alot that I did not miss doing when I had a shaved head. So currently leaning into the fun of an ever-changing look (had a funny hat phase during winter—favourite time because I love hats—and now in the accessories phase...) to remind myself it's just hair and to appreciate the process 💖

Gave myself a buzz cut a couple months ago and it rocks I feel so light and free and am discovering styles I never would have considered as it slowly grows back out. Incredibly liberating experience to have 3 lbs of hair hit the floor but the experience continues now that I’m getting to be a pixie cut person. Months later and I still am addicted to this choice

I first shaved my head in 2017 because I wanted to do something bold with my body, something I had considered for 2 whole weeks before just doing it. Now, I haven’t cut my hair since November 2024 and my hair is in the pixie stage. When people, usually women, ask me about cutting my hair, I always tell them to do it at least once because it’s so liberating to reclaim your body in a very obvious but temporary way. It’s also nice to not worry about extensive care and maintenance. I’m not sure if I’m going to like having long hair again, but I’m going to give it another try.

This was me totally. I went from actually waist length hair to right at my shoulders and then to a bob within months. I've cycled through all kinds of hair styles since then. Wolf cuts, layered bobs, pixie cuts, the only thing I haven't done is buzzed my hair. I loved my long hair and being so used to having it made it really jarring when it was gone for sure. But short hair suits my style and features so so much better. So I have not gone back. I miss the feeling of having long hair but I don't miss the look most the time. Or the maintenance. And I do really love my short hair I think it's really cute and it's so fun to wash and to style. It helps me lean more into an androgynous vibe when I want which is nice sometimes. There are tons of ways to style it! You can get specific with your hair type and length on Pinterest and get a ton of ideas. Also Jenny Cha (whom I've linked) has a series styling her buzz cut growing out and she has a ton of ideas in that series.

it's totally cool to age and society still isn't equipped to deal with that.

Sometimes you try your best and everything seems to hit the fan no matter how much you try, so you take that raincheck and take yourself out for a day.

This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
