I kinda agree to a certain extent. I feel like if you've been on a reading slump and are trying to get back into books, then audiobooks can be a great start. HOWEVER...some people listen to audiobooks without taking the time to actually digest the text, which makes their understanding of the book's ideas shallow.

my fiance listens to audiobooks because they're an auditory learner. they really can't process words on paper, so the audiobook does more for them than a paperback would. if we got into technical terms, i think i do have a problem if they're saying "i read a book" but just listened to it as background. If someone is listening and grasping it well, they're reading it, in my eyes. reading to me is more than interpreting words on a paper, it's actually getting something from it. and whatever method you use to achieve that, i approve of :)

had a prejudice against audiobooks because i falsely believed it was a lesser form of reading despite hypocritically growing up having my parents read out loud to me and living with those obvious benefits. took a study that demonstrated listening and reading brain scans look identical to break this opinion

It’s best to dip your toe in before you jump into the middle of deep water. I always find myself dragged down by the first couple chapters of a book and sadly don’t continue because I’m treading water. This may be a result of a worsening attention span BUT if I listen to the first few chapters on youtube, Spotify, audible, or libby I feel I have enough to venture out on my own with the real book!

What privilege it is to wake up to the beautiful sun rays beaming from my windows to lighten up my room. What privilege is it that these same windows are bringing a beautiful breeze that tickles my body. What privilege that the same beautiful room decorated by sun shine is the same room that brings me comfort and rest. A space where my self can come out safely. What privilege it is to have a self that is actively taking me to places where I can indulge in delicious foods, listen to eargasmic music, acquire knowledge and be engulfed by the beauty of the life. It is these things that make up the root of my existence, the reason to my being. May I continue to indulge in the beautiness of the otherwise mundane.

I think the idea of hating on trendy things for the sake of wanting to be seen as different is very corny. I understand that not developing your own sense of style and copying whatever you see on tiktok or ig without adding your personal touch is an indicator of the lack of creativity, but that (imo) doesn't apply to people that genuinely like the item/style...If you for example like sambas or the leopard print baggy jeans and can get multiple uses out of them then that's great! you're not a microtrend final boss if you wear these items...

No matter how hard or uncomfortable it is, you have to sit with them, you have to listen to your voices....And if you have the mental energy to do so, write them down. Often times, the feelings you dismiss as minor end up having the most impact on your overall health (be it mental or physical)....Your body can feel when you're suppressing your emotions and it unfortunately makes you prone to diseases and disorders (believe me, I am currently being diagnosed for crohn's)...You also become more agitated and exhausted without knowing why.... These repressed feelings can be in the form of burn-outs, intrusive thoughts, anxieties, or any strong emotion you face throughout the day. Regardless, you have to address them...
