I like, primarily go to movies by myself. it's the best. no one to worry about if they're liking it or whatever, walk in as the movie starts bc no one but me to care about being late, leave early if I hate it, it's even better if there's an empty theater and then it's a litrprivate screening!!!

i like watching movies at home by myself but not going to the theater alone! going to the movies just feels like it should be a social experience. not super into movie commentary but i do like to laugh or share reactions with whoever i’m watching with. i’ve gone alone once and left in a melancholy mood but at least i can say i tried it!

Why is it such a weird thing?? I’ve never understood it. Unless I intend to talk through the whole movie what difference is going alone vs with people?? I would like to experience the full range of emotions without someone right next to me thank you. And on that note movie dates are stupid and probably some sort of movie theater marketing psyop

@GRAPE right! depending on the movie, having another person can lighten the impact the movie is meant to have. and i absolutely don’t trust anyone whose ever asked me out on a movie date, especially as a first date.

It’s peaceful and allows me to really reflect on what I’m watching. I personally see people do it often, so I don’t think it’s become taboo!

i get why people only think of movies as a social event, but seeing a movie in a theater alone is the most freeing and therapeutic thing that i do in my day to day life. gone are the moments of trying to pick something that you think a group of people would like. gone is the anxiety of always thinking about what your friend is thinking of the movie as it’s going on. it’s just you and the movie. i love it

going to see challengers on my own today! and i'm very excited. i'm someone who actually doesn't mind going to the cinema alone. i've done it so many times over the years, and totally do not get people who say it's sad. if i lived somewhere where i could go to late night screenings on my own, i would do it all the time. sometimes i end up making a friend, sometimes i just get to sit and get sucked in and then i get to leave and choose my favorite place to eat. it's a nice way to spend a day on your own, and i think more people (especially people in their 20s) should take themselves on little dates.
