Three music recs for y'all. Lmk what you think if you check them out/like these artists/have recs for me given these recs !!! Greyhound by Palace (Alternative Rock I'd say, This is one of those instances when I was shuffling my liked songs, heard one of their old tracks and thought to myself "what have they been up to?" and man am I happy that happened. This EP is sooooo good. It's the perfect under 20 minute reprieve from the grind of finishing the semester up.) Mortal Primetime by Sunflower Bean (Alternative? Indie-Rock? Rock?, I'm unsure tbh someone pls weigh in. Regardless, I have to give credit to the Spotify algorithm for this one. I had never heard of this group, I just needed something to fill the silence as I washed the dishes and boy did these kids really pleasantly surprise me!) The Good The Bad The Dollar Menu by Ray Vaughn (Hip-Hop/Rap, I remember first encountering Ray Vaughn when he was an opening act for Isaiah Rashad when I was in college and I texted my friend "he's the business." This mixtape only reiterates that claim for me fr.)

last week of high school & also some fun fun music! first time listens: ⋆ *NEW* Joey Bada$$ vs. west coast beef - This was the most buns rap battle ever. there was like 20 tracks dropped within 3 days and there was maybe 4 good ones! the biggest beef was between the artists and picking good beats ⋆ @SENTRIES ~ Gem of the West - Recommended to me by Sentries themselves on this app last week! Overall i really enjoyed this album and jammed out pretty freaking hard to it! got a lot of Squid vibes but also just epicness. really liking the tracks code, cowboy's carcass, and red eye removal! ⋆ The Cure ~ Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me - I don't listen to the cure too much but when i do it's always so fire! honestly such a good album and by favorite of theirs (from my limited listening) ⋆ *NEW* Jane Remover ~ Supernova - I didn't even know there was gonna be a new Jane track today but here it is and its freaking fire. hopefully this means Revengeseekerz deluxe or something.....? ⋆ *NEW* Boldy James ~ Magnolia Leflore - was really excited for this project because the single was so fire, but it was mostly just pretty good. nothing stood out much excpet for the single but at least the songs are mostly enjoyable (unlike the past like 8 boldy projects)! thinking a solid like 6 or 7 what's been in rotation: ‣ Spotify DJ - he's so goated, like YES i would love for you to pick what i listen to so i have to give 0 thought to it!!! ‣ JPEGMAFIA ~ hazard duty pay! - one of my favorite songs of all time! ‣ Jane Remover ~ Revengeseekerz - still AOTY for me and i relisten pretty much every few days ‣ Frank Ocean ~ Ivy - feels very relevant with it being my final week of high school! ‣ 100 gecs ~ where's my head at - banger! banger! banger! banger! ‣ Vince Staples ~ Dark Times - one of my favorite albums from last year, gotten back into it this week and it's still soooo good ‣ Kendrick Lamar ~ euphoria - after this week's disaster of a rap beef i had to remind myself of an actually good diss track ‣ Boldy James ~ Nancy Botwin - the single from his new album/EP, was loving it all week and it's definitely the best off the project anyways recommend me music in the comments! see u next week :P

When I got into college, I had this thing where I would pick a class crush and a class enemy for every class I was enrolled in. It was fun and a way to ensure I was actually going to class and not skipping (to impress your crush you have to say insightful things and seem smart so you keep up with the course reading/to be a good enemy, you have to be well versed in the course reading to make a good counter argument to whatever your enemy is yapping about). It’s always been fun and now as a Ph.D. student finishing up coursework, I am proud to say that I declared what might likely be my last class crush/enemy ever. This is all to say that recently I have been letting the crush/enemy paradigm bleed out into other aspects of my life and that I’d recommend it to others. If you wanna meet new people or make new friends, find a crush and enemy everywhere you go. Charm the crush, get into an argument with the enemy. It helps pass the time and you might fall into a friends to lovers or enemies to lovers dynamic which is always a good time.

I made the decision to "downgrade" to a flip phone and I genuinely think it is the best decision I've made in a long time. It's weirdly connected me to my inner-child. Which, in retrospect, I reckon I should have expected. The camera quality sucks in the best way, but I carry my Canon camera around too in case I need to capture something more important. I've been calling my friends more because T9 texting is a drag. Haha, I've been texting like "do u wanna c a movie l8er?" I talk to strangers more when I'm waiting in line, when I can't look something up. I've been writing questions in my journal because I can't look it up in the moment, I have to get onto the computer later in the day and satiate my ever-flighty mind. Don't get me wrong, it sucked at first, but the intrigue absolutely helped. It has just been a fun way to spend the summer I guess. Screen time is down, my boredom has breed creativity, and I feel far more present in the world. If you've been thinking about trading your smart phone in for a dumb phone, take this as a sign. I recommend it immensely.

Not sure how many other Doctor Who fans are on this site but I always thought the weeping angels were so baller. They hide in plain sight posing as these angel statues, but the moment your eyes are off them they try and get ya. I thought they were so scary as a kid and have a great affinity for them now.
