THE AIRPORT
It's so lawless. You’ll see the weirdest things and no one will care. People are so unabashedly human here. Dead expressions, exhaustion, boredom. You’ll get a coffee, someone else will get a bloody mary, the time is irrelevant. Your priorities will be tested, everything costs at least three times as much as it should, it won’t matter. I love liminal spaces.

@TORTITUDE everyone is behaving like it’s their first time in an airport (or perhaps a public space generally) but in departures there’s certainly no excuse because obviously as tourists they’d have flown in first. walking on the left, standing in the middle, letting kids act horribly, not being mindful of personal space, etc. depending on the terminal the layout is a little odd and some of the gate areas are terrible (small, hot). overall it’s stressful chaos

Honestly, I love the airport. You’re right about it being a lawless place, there are very few places where you’ll find people drinking beer and cocktails at 9am unjudged and the airport is definitely one of them. I would say it’s one of my favorite people watching places, and I can’t help myself from doing things like noticing book covers and looking up the synopsis of what someone is reading lol.

Airports
I love airports because they bring two of my favorite things together under one roof: people watching and “liminal spaces.” The lounge access is also a plus, though they really do be letting anyone in these days.

CUTTING YOUR OWN HAIR
yeah my layers are probably horribly uneven, but no one will be able to tell and I feel so free. thank goodness it is short again. I like when the hairdressers wash my hair but right now having saved that money is it's own high
