I’ve had really impactful encounters with animals at significant moments of my life - a silver fox on the anniversary of my grandma’s passing (snapped a photo that I’ll attach), a death witch moth on my first trip home in many years, several snapping turtle hatchlings on a day that I had quit a job that was slowly killing me, a mountain lion during summer 2020 when multiply tragedies were happening at once. There are also animals that I see repeatedly on walks that have become meaningful symbols to me- herons, water snakes, hawks, and coyotes especially. I love animals, even the scary ones, and I’m a big believer that they have a lot to teach us

decided to go to a reptile expo on a whim and boy was that an experience. one room was hot with parrots, guinea pigs, silk worms, a dancing furry bird mascot, and a petting zoo filled with chickens, skunks, porcupines, baby kangaroos, bunnies, and the craziest creature i’ve ever seen (patagonian cavy) and the other room cold with snakes, spiders, frogs, lizards, etc. there was also a mini bar in the hallway connecting these two rooms and bass boosted thumping 2016 white girl club music in the hot room. i was craving a corn dog so we went to a haunted 90s diner and got corn dogs, onion rings, fish and chips, burgers, shakes, and a banana split. day well spent. i then slept for 10 hours. i also got this plant that i’ve named phaedra
