tryna become a linguist is hard but a fulfilling task
currently studying: latin, asl, and spanish (even though i studied spanish in high school, im not that confident speaking 🫤)

Languages are my weak-spot. I find them very difficult to learn and don’t enjoy learning them but I realllyyyy wish I could. maybe now I’ve learnt how to play chess a language will be my next “thing I’m bad at” to do? i would like to learn sight language but that’s really hard to do without an in person teacher, so maybe I’ll learn Spanish

- so my mother tongue is gujurati , not the most fluent in it always but i would say i speak pretty well in it
- hindi and urdu : both i understand fully they are quite similar to each other and to gujurati but speaking them can be a bit embarrasing since i butcher it but again it gets me by what i do know
- arabic is what i'm currently in the process of learning. since a kid i've been able to read it cause i got taught to when learning the Quran and stuff but wasn't able to understand it until i started an islamic course which sidenote is so exciting cause i graduate next july hopefully
- and the last is korean so i'm learning it with a student i mentor on mondays and so its been a challenge learning but my watching of kdramas has helped a bit with pronounciation and stuff but yeah that's been a journey
i really however want to learn spanish for funsies so hopefully we'll get to that one day

i speak broken greek and understand italian.
i spent 7 years of my life learning italian in school and have nothing to show for it, and i grew up in a greek family and community and still have nothing to show for it.
my bad for not putting in the effort, when i graduate ill work on my linguistics. but for now—a jack of all trades is better than an expert in one
a girl thinks in english but frequently forgets the english word for things. a few years ago i recently learnt what a tablecloth was in english. absolutely blew my mind

there are two types of solo dates i go on:
one, where i sit with myself like at a restaurant/cafe i wanted to try or a movie i really wanted to see to enjoy it how i want to
or two, where i surround myself with a new community so i feel less alone but I AM alone bc no one knows me
options for one: movies, cafe/restaurant, library, thrifting, doing art outside, spa day, making a new meal at home, getting a sweet treat
options for two: cooking classes, gym/zoomba classes, book clubs, pottery, hiking groups, escape rooms
these are off the top of my head but enjoy yourself love there’s no one better to have fun with than yourself !
