i just started reading it last night so i’m nowhere near a significant part of the book, but its SO good. it’s about a family who goes down to Maine every summer to pick berries, and one year one of the family members goes missing. The book itself is about racism, family trauma, and identity. i can’t really recommend based off of anything except the current vibes im getting, but you should definitely read it sometime!

This was my last read of 2020, and honestly it was kind of the perfect way to finish the year. Without saying more than what you find on the back of the book - the premise is that a white family is vacationing at an airbnb in upstate NY, when they’re visited by an older black couple claiming to be the owners of the house, with stories of a blackout or something worse happening in the city. There’s lots of questions posed, from race to class and handling crises that aren’t fully understood. This book was a really fast read but had me hooked from start to finish. If you don’t mind a bit of an ambiguous ending, I highly recommend checking this out!

this is what PI.BKCLB is reading rn! the voice of the narrator is really unique and the story is a cool insight into what growing up in rural appalachia at the margins of mainstream american society is like

i think messy and frizzy curls are the way to go. i grew up with my wavy hair always being tangled and messy, but when i brushed them, they would get super frizzy and wouldn’t go down. i think instead of shaming people for them, saying they look ratty, and making them insecure, we should instead embrace them and acknowledge their natural and raw beauty

sustainable, affordable, and prevents books from being discarded in landfills like lots of items from the thrift are. Especially with how expensive books are becoming, it provides an opportunity for those who dont have access to libraries easily or like physical copies they can have, but cant bring themselves to spend so much on a book. They’re becoming luxuries instead of resources, and its sad

it makes such a difference in attitude. I decided to dress up a little to make sure i do good and have a good day. Usually, i would be miserable but today i feel so great. i think looking good helps you feel and do good. its also just fun being able to experiment. i suggest that everyone tries it sometimes and see how it affects your day!!! have a good day everyone
