literally love it so much and i'm always so happy when i leave there. the america windows are literally the most beautiful sight in real life like it will take your breath away. i had a cameron from ferris bueller's day off moment standing there staring at the america windows with tears in my eyes. and that movie was actually filmed at the art institute! so much to see i love the miniature rooms

i worked here for a few years and often got emotional just entering it (dramatic i know!!), it is just such a marvel, truly emblematic of the city/iconic, visiting the top was always such an adventure, also my fav part was that there are these murals throughout the lobby (mainly the ceiling but also the reception desk wall and in the elevators) that feature gears in celestial formations it is extremely steampunk!!!!

last term i went on a bar crawl and we only went to the most gorgeous old colleges and it sort of felt like sacrilege walking around there getting gradually drunker. we went to new college and stopped at the tree where they filmed some of the goblet of fire. they filmed some of wonka at the bridge pictured, think he drives a giraffe under here. i got here like a year after they filmed wonka and saltburn so i missed the swathes of people trying to catch a glimpse of timothee/ jacob elordi. begging the next film here stars dominic sessa, i love him. anyway, itβs kind of weird to live somewhere made up of film locations, but it does strike me just how lucky i am to walk past these places every day.

book through the Chicago Architecture Center (cool people) or Wendella (tourist-y, u know)β¦ it wonβt matter on this not to be missed, greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts, with a full service bar, A+++ way to see the city

i will never get over polyvore shutting down. i used it obsessively and had hundreds of outfits made on it and mine were ARTFUL not like the stuff people say they saw on wattpad with like skinny jeans and converse and shit like mine were gorgeous. and then they shut down and i wasn't able to back up any of my stuff so i lost it all. HEARTBREAKINGGGGG
