i guess you could say its a fav but its the only one i listen to? started years back just so i didnt lose any japanese comprehension skills but the host has a chill voice and guests are usually equally chill, plus its pretty relatable to my personal experience mostly about creatives/music/pop culture inspired by the experience navigating growing up as half/mixed-race and multicultural(in a mono-ethnic country)

my dad is an artist and musician and my mom is a poet so I grew up among creatives and was encouraged to dabble in and explore as many art forms as possible. But I have been creatively constipated for sooo many years and followed a career that has been very interesting and broadened my horizons but is also among the dullest work anybody could do. Starting this podcast with one of my best friends has been really fun and I can feel it reawakening my creative mind and motivating me to externalize more and follow through on creative impulses. It’s available on Spotify and Apple I’d be honored if anyone would give it a listen

I’m working on a podcast about the 1990s for work and went full method so been listening to a lot of β€˜90s music which led me to this podcast. The host Rob Harvilla goes on a seemingly unrelated tangent for the first like 15-20 minutes of the episode but always connects it back to the main song/artist in a fun and interesting way. So far I’ve listened to the eps about Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Hole (on an early 90s alt rock kick lol) and they've all been excellent! Planning to listen to many more.

"separating the art from the artist" is a privileged ass take and doesn't exist. what people create is representative of how theyve interacted with the world thus far. what the world has done to them, what others have done to them, what theyve learned from others, what theyve done to others, how theyve navigated life with what theyve been given or with what theyve taken. if you deny that the nude portraits drawn by the hand of a sexual predator are a bastardised version of reality based on his perspective and experience of violence against women then you would also deny the experience of indigenous artists in their depictions of brutality in the face of colonialism or that a single stroke in a painting created by a Black artist holds the weight of going through life in america while being black. when consuming art, media, anything created by human hands/minds you must also be conscious of the creators lived experience, wether its negative or positive, if you want to make an accurate assessment on the art itself dont live and consume in ignorance
