Harold and Maude (1971) House (1977) Blue Velvet (1986) Rushmore (1998) Triangle of Sadness (2022) PS I loved The Piano Teacher and it also made me cry for several days after watching it and it helped me realize I needed to be back in therapy. Amazing movie I will never watch it again.

Ok but fr.. If you liked Worst Person in the World then watch… Weekend (2011) If you liked Eternal Sunshine then watch… Punch Drunk Love (2002) If you liked Anatomy of a Fall (I haven’t seen it yet) then watch… Force Majeure (2014)  If you want to be moved, a James Ivory film is always reliable in that department. My favorites are Maurice 💔❤️‍🩹 (hugh grants floppy hair should have won best supporting actor) and Room With a View ❤️‍🔥 (Beauty! Joy! Love!) Misc. movies that made me cry:  -Harold & Maude (1971) it’s a classic! -Moonlight (2016) I mean cmon yeah -Handmaiden (2016) always rocks my world  -Petite Maman (2021) you’ll want to give your mom a hug after -Short Term 12 (2013) early Brie Larson and Lakeith Stanfield… underrated imo -A Monster Calls (2016)… it’s a ya/kids movie but made my mom and I both sobbed in the theater lol

Some happy cry, some sad cry, in no particular order - Perfect days (Dir. Wim Wenders, 2023) - About Time (Dir. Richard Curtis, 2013) - After Yang (Dir. Kogonada, 2021) - Tokyo Story (Dir. Yasujirō Ozu, 1953) - Parallel Mothers (Dir. Pedro Almodóvar, 2021) - C’mon C’mon (Dir. Mike Mills, 2021) Honorable mention because it’s 4 hours long and WILL destroy you: - An Elephant Sitting Still (Dir. Hu Bo, 2018)

Mr. Cassavetes is the man who has made me cry the most, isn’t that saying something! Starting ten minutes into the 2.5 hour-long film, I felt my heart slowly sink into my stomach, and by the end I was claustrophobic with such feelings of hopelessness, confusion, and the sting of reality. I cried myself to sleep, I didn’t know what else to do with myself! A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE is worth a watch for all these reasons, and for Gena Rowland’s unmatched and masterful performance, and for these reasons it is a movie I must never watch again. Brava!

Be like a woman diagnosed with hysteria in the 18th century. Visit the sea and let it restore your spirit. Drove to the Nubble Lighthouse at 6 in the morning. I brought my journal and wrote two pages sitting on rocks and breathing in the salty air. I feel awake, alive, free, and ready for the rest of the day. Don’t underestimate the healing power of Mother Nature. She is here for us when we treat her with love.

I am partial to abstraction but I wanna highlight a more contemporary representational painter. Mark Tennant‘s work is like painted film photography. His use of light and shadow, the subject matter, just so unique and stunning.
