I genuinely think most Americans want a better society where everyone is cared for. The problem lies with the very rich telling the very poor that the only way to achieve this is by exclusion, e.g. some people donât deserve to be better off. This creates a divided country where rather than everyone being deserving of an all around better life, folks lean into the deep running individualism that permeates American culture.
When the very rich control the political decisions, the media narrative, and a majority of the capitol, itâs a slow motion train wreck at the expense of the people and the environment.
I think the general vibe is, disappointed but not surprised.

what is the justification for limiting/gutting access to social services/benefits for low income or impoverished individuals, yet allowing a form of corporate agricultural welfare through crop insurance?
additionally, how do you reconcile this given that mine and your tax money could be funding crop insurance? 62% of all crop insurance for industrial farming is subsidized by the federal government
(this is very dry and not at all a big hot take or âgotcha!â for conservatives - But I grew up in the country hearing about rich farm families complaining about welfare collecting immigrants - would love to hear if they know they are bankrolled by the government for their cash crops)
