Rec | ANTI-REC: ANTI-RECS!!

Not sure what’s been going on in this app for the past few months, but tell me why I open it today and the first three recs I read are a complaint, something to dislike, or have comments beneath about something negative?? When my friend first showed me this platform, it was the first one that I’d seen with little to no negativity on it. It was an alternate to everyday social media, somewhere that I could discover something cool without having to deal with meaningless pessimism. Not to say that there’s NOTHING good about all of it– I’ve had a laugh at some of the anti-recs that seem less cynical and are more comedic. I don’t know, maybe I’m being overreactive(I mean I definitely am lmao), but I wanna see recommendations, not complaints!

big agree!!!!! unless they are fun and silly they leave me with an uneasy feeling….like even if I agree, im not tryna commiserate ☹️ the world is brutal and i pop in here to experience the wonder of peeking into other peoples magical little day to day lives. give me the magic!!! i always consider blocking them but worry there will be no one left 🧐 i feel v strongly about this too and please lmk if u find a way to solve (either via changing the posting culture at large lol, or by curating what u see via hide or block)

@MORAY_EEL truly i think the best thing would be to collectively ignore these type of posts. it’s unassumingly easy to dogpile on something “bad”, so i don’t blame anyone! however the problem arises when people begin putting others down for having certain opinions rather than uplifting and appreciating the things we do have and enjoy.

I love the niche shit I find too so maybe having something on an ask post where the original poster can pin a rec to the top for everyone else? & A way to collect recs you find, like a favourite or saved I signed up yesterday and already has some a1 recs. I love this app, feels like you got a bunch of mates you havent seen in a while, putting you onto rare stuff you never seen before.

fievel is glauque

some time last year on a road trip, i came across Fievel Is Glauque. “what the fuck is a Fievel?” i asked hnyre, to which he responded “y’know, that one cartoon mouse“(i’d never seen it). after listening to their song Hit Me Now, i fell in love with their rough production style combined with the wacky rhythmic and harmonic jazz bullshit you’d hear music nerds audibly orgasm over. though, sometimes with that irregular music riff-raff, you ought to pair it with sounding like you recorded your album inside a comical rusty garbage can with a single mic(i‘m overcompensating), which Fievel Is Glauque does amazingly with their record “God’s Trashmen Sent to Right the Mess”. listened to the entire thing right after i found the first song. had 0 skips from me! their new single that’s preceding the next album drop is also pretty incredible, in which it seems like the trash men have righted the mess with a much “cleaner” sound this time around. gotta say, i also just love french singing. no wonder why Pomplamoose has a new viral video every other moon

the substance is beautiful

i’ve seen this movie twice now, and although some scenes are awfully hard to watch, the camerawork and symbolism is amazing. it’s masterfully written with both high intensity and comedic moments. if you can handle blood and guts and body horror vfx, you need to watch this film. i would say that the first watch felt very long, but watching it again definitely gave me another perspective.
