“Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism – it's my least favorite quality, and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen.” dealing with disappointment but remembered this and realised it might not work out the way i planned out but that's okay. made it my lockscreen to remember it. also context - NBC was really fucking him over here. it was his last tonight show episode I think, so it means a lot that he specifically was like cynicism leads nowhere.

Cynicism is over babe. It’s washed. It’s dusty. And it’s lazy. We’re done with that shit. We’re not being men who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing anymore (s/o my man Oscar Wilde). If part of what you get to choose in this life is how you experience it, why would you ever choose to experience it cynically? I’m not totally sure what the opposite of cynicism is, but to me it’s faith. Whatever that means to you - I’m not talking religion or god per se, but that too if you’re into that - there’s so many different, personal versions of it, but faith just makes life so much more meaningful and beautiful. It’s like how when you can feel the sun on your face it’s so nice, and sometimes you can’t feel it or even see it because it’s overcast or rainy or whatever, but you still know it’s there. Because it’s always there.

i used to think it's useless to hope for things because life does not go according to plan, but all the corny advice is true... deciding it is impossible makes it impossible. this goes for love, career, etc. - being hopeful has changed my life in ways i never expected. and if something really is impossible and the choice is to be optimistic and wrong or cynical and right, why not do the option thats more fun...

Great film directed by Gurinder Chadha. About a British Indian girl who joins a women's football team which her parents don't approve of. This film made waves for British Asian representation. It does a great job of balancing social commentary with comedy.

tis a streaming service that you can use if your library (local/public/university) is participating in it. I highly recommend. It gives you access to so many different films. their range is insane. they have Mississippi Masala and Solaris (the old one that I'll watch after my Russian exam on Tuesday) on the same platform as the Pharell Williams lego film. P.S. all the films in the picture are available through my uni's membership to kanopy, but they might not be available through your library. give it a try tho to see what's there
