his love for driving and roadtrips made me love it as much as he did.
my family and i would go on a lot of road trips, whether to the mountains for camping or to another country (we lived in the middle east, so it wasn't too bad). i would talk to my parents for hours while listening to music in one ear. it was so simple, but in a way, so much quality time was achieved.
we don't go on many roadtrips now because my brother and i are in college and our timetables would clash, but knowing it's summer soon, we might go somewhere hehe

I love windscreen time. It’s therpeutic. I live on a farm in ohio but do a lot of work in New York.Sometimes I’ll drive. I listen to books. I treat myself to a two cheeseburger meal at McDonald’s.I have a little air cooled 911 and planning a 2500 mile road trip in it to a friends wedding in July. There’s something about bonding with a machine that I love. I love the smell of oil and gas and manually rowing through gears on beautiful byways. Stress drops away and it’s meditative for me.

Nothing will re-kindle your childhood sense of wonder like driving for days in an unfamiliar place. As if time stands still.
I remember winding through farm fields of basil and tomatoes in Emilia-Romagna Italy and rolling down the windows to let the heavenly fragrance waft in. You don't forget these moments.
